SuperCalendar 2.5.1 by ScaryBear

If your life is ruled by the clock and you’re juggling a dozen appointments and twice that many tasks, you need something more substantial than your PDA’s in-built Calendar. Perhaps one of the “SuperPIMs” like Agenda Fusion or Pocket Informant might be just the ticket out of your daily mayhem.

But what if you’re balk at the complexity (or price) of these programs and want a simple program to handle your scheduling tasks better than the Calendar you’ve outgrown?

There’s nothing scary about trying on SuperCalendar from ScaryBear Software.

Let’s be unconventional and put the verdict of our review on top!

That way you know whether it’s worth your while to read on.

SuperCalendar was written for me.

Not really, of course, but for folks like me who don’t want to invest a lot of time getting to know the intricacies of their SuperPIM and don’t have the need for an “all singin’, dancin’” scheduler and task manager.

I reckon SuperCalendar at $9.95 US is decently priced and is positioned just right in the continuum of Calendar programs. Highly recommended.

Now let’s see what attracts me to SuperCalendar.

  • Simple but colourful interface.

  • Just about everything can be coloured coded by you.

  • Lots of icons make interpreting your various appointments easier.

More can be imported, created and added.

  • Handy pop-up notes can be created for the Daily View

  • Frequent changes, fixes and updates to SuperCalendar tell me this is a responsive developer.

  • SuperCalendar is not a large program to download either: under 700 KB and just over a scant 200 KB when installed.

  • You can profile the filters which display your appointments.

  • Main view is the current Month from which you can easily navigate.

  • Navigation can also be done with the hardware buttons on your PDA.

Initially, I was miffed that apparently they left out one of the handiest functions in the standard Calendar: the ability to go back to Today with one click.

Didn’t see the icon for it until I read in the excellent manual that this function is incorporated in the name of the month.

Tap the name and you’re back from the future!

Sometimes it just pays to have a quick squiz at the manual….

A Weekly view would have been nice as most scheduling revolves around the week.

I think PocketInformant has that function just right. And I feel SuperCalendar could easily implement this feature as well without become too cumbersome.

There are enough options to personalise the looks of SuperCalendar to your heart’s content, yet it’s all very easy to use.

I’ll let the screenshots do the talking.
