Choosing the right
motherboard is vital for the ultimate gaming machine. The
motherboard is the core piece of hardware which sets the standard of the
computer's potential. The most important components of the
motherboard are its qualities and features. ECS has provided us
with the motherboard, the KN1 SLI Extreme, supporting AMD's Socket 939
Athlon 64 CPUs. This board is packed with features for the
hardcore user, but does it have the performance and reliability to
match? This can easily be determined by benchmarking it in a
variety of tests to see if this motherboard is well worth its money.

Today, I will be reviewing Lite-On's latest external DVD and CD
burning optical drive, the SHW-1673SU. If you are familiar
with Lite-On's model numbers, you might have noticed that this
product contains the number '1673' in its name. Perhaps
this drive may have some relation to the internal SOHW-1673S
drive? I did a little research on the specifications of
both products and they both have the exact same specifications
in terms of reading and writing speeds for various formats.
Although this may just be an external version of the SOHW-1673S
drive, what is more important is the interesting EZ-DUB feature
this external drive has. As the name implies it allows a
user to quickly 'DUB' or copy discs or files with just a press
of a button. We'll explore this feature more further in
this review. More... |

A power supply unit is a basic, simple component for a computer.
However, it is one of the component's that is more crucial for
your computer. Essentially, without a power supply, you have no
power to your computer. The power supply provides power to
every single piece in your computer such as your motherboard,
video card, fans, etc. When most people purchase a power supply,
many are just satisfied if it just gets their computer running.
In my opinion, a power supply should at least provide power to
your computer no matter how little or many components I have in
my system. Today, we will be looking at the Enermax Liberty 400
Watt Power Supply. If you have any recent Intel Pentium or AMD
system, 400 Watts should be the minimum for the computer. Any
less, and it is questionable whether or not it can provide
enough power for your system.

We made a brief
mention of the OZiQ All-in-one PC Panel some weeks ago. Since then,
we’ve met and interviewed the guy from Tucana Innovations who
designed the OZiQ and also spent a few hours with the very
capable All-in-one machine. Today, my first
impressions of the OZiQ, to be followed by a more extensive
overview of its capabilities in a few months’ time.

Today, I will be taking a look at
a DVD/HDD recorder from Lite-On. What makes this product
unique is that it allows you to record content from a wide
variety of sources into the built in hard-drive in the unit.
Once it is on the hard drive, you can then record the digital
media onto blank DVD's to allow you to permanently store your
important content. With the LVW-5045, Lite-On always
keeps the consumer in mind by focusing on functionality and
simplicity. This product manages to keep the process of
recording content and burning the content to DVD's simplified
and easy to use with minimal sacrifice in features.

When thinking about
motherboards, many people think of
popular companies such as Intel, Abit,
Asus, etc. They have provided quality
motherboards for many years now and are
brands that can be trusted. What I
wasn't aware of is that the fact that
Tul makes motherboards as well. With
the recent review of Tul's PowerColor
Radeon X800XT as well as other reviews I
had seen of their products, they have
made excellent graphics cards with their
award winning PowerColor series. Now,
Tul has brought the PowerColor series
name to their motherboards as well. I
was surprised when I first learned that
Tul made motherboards, because they have
released quite a few of them already. I
suppose that many of us have not really
heard about their motherboard products
because we simply have not heard much
news about them. Today, we had the
chance to review Tul's PowerColor
A350-VF motherboard.

DVD
recordable drives are starting to really take off in
terms of the features available and the speed of the
drives.
Today, I will be reviewing two DVD recordable
drives from a company called Lite-On. One has a maximum
recording speed of 8X and the other has a maximum speed
of 12X. Ever since DVD drives have been released,
things have been a bit more complicated. There are more
numbers to examine as well as the different technologies
used in the drives. This review will help demystify the
confusion involved when buying a DVD recordable drive as
well as what to look for. Since most people buying a
DVD recordable intend on using it mainly for creating
DVD’s rather than CD’s, the review will focus on the DVD
performance of the two drives.

If there has ever been a
time when protection is necessary whenever you log on the Internet, it’s
now. We need to be shielded from viruses, hacks, worms, identity theft
and all the other net nasties. But why don’t we do it? Is it
complexity, cost, the constant updating or the feeling that there is no
all-in-one solution?
AlphaShield has come up with
a hardware firewall solution that promises perfect protection with easy
setup and at a very reasonable cost.
Is it a mirage or does it
really work? More...
