Just to give you an idea of where this product stands relative to
ATI's current line of next generation graphics chips, it begins at the
entry-level with the X1300. At the midrange, is the X1600 series.
The X1800 and X1900 series is where we progress to the higher to highest
end graphics chips on the market. The X1300 is an entry-level
graphics card which incorporates the latest Shader Model 3.0 technology
to allow you to play the latest games. At this level, it is a
matter of the kind of performance and features is offered at the budget
price. More... |

Since the release of the ATI's next generation X1000 series, ATI's
graphics cards have brought higher and higher performance...more
pipelines, higher clock speeds, etc. The enthusiasm for ATI's
latest cards doesn't necessarily mean that the older X100 series cards
are left in the dust. In fact, it means more affordable lower
prices for the older generation. Let's face it, not everyone can keep up with technology always. I've had my custom computer built less than 3 years ago and the switch
from the AGP interface to PCI-Express passed so quickly that it makes my
system seem old already. The good news is that there are still AGP
versions of graphics cards available. Today, I will be reviewing the Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO. This product emphasizes overclocking on a budget. If you are still
stuck with the older AGP interface and love to overclock, this card may
be for you. More... |

Being able to watch TV on your computer
has not been a new concept. It's
been around for quite a while now.
T'he main reasons it has not been
adopted by many people is because of the
poor picture quality as well as software
usability. One of the reasons
behind the poor picture quality has to
do with the idea that a computer monitor
has a much higher resolution than a TV.
In addition, there are other notable
problems regarding picture quality.
The picture quality looks a bit noisy
sometimes, the colors bleed, etc., which
makes it a poor experience. With
the release of the Theatre 550 Pro chip
from ATI, the goal is to bring the same
home theatre experience to your
computer. These include features
like stereo TV sound and radio and most
important of all, a 3D comb filter and
noise reduction to improve the picture
quality.

There is a huge market for
conversion of “legacy” formats to the current digital way of putting
information down. I’m not talking about software on diskettes but
particularly personal documentation in the form of video, film and other
means.
I‘ve got hundreds of VHS videos and a large number of
spools of Super 8 film that I want to digitize and make accessible for
my kids by putting them on DVDs.

The concept of being able
to watch TV on your computer has been around for
quite some time now. In fact, there are already
quite a few TV cards available in the market
today. Some of the more well known brands
include Hauppauge as well as ATI. ATI’s TV
tuners can be found separately in the ATI TV
Wonder series or integrated in video cards in
ATI’s All-In-Wonder series.

ATI and Nvidia are back in action as they compete for the
number one spot with their next generation video cards. ATI’s fastest
graphics card is the X800XT while NVIDIA's is the GeForce 6800 Ultra.
Today, I will be taking a look at PowerColor’s X800XT Platinum Limited
Assassin Edition. This graphics
card as the name implies uses the X800XT graphics chip, which is
currently the fastest offering by the Canadian company ATI. In this
article, we will examine the new technologies present in the chip and
review PowerColor’s graphics card to see how well it performs. The
graphics card will mainly be compared against ATI’s previous generation
card, the 9800. Although the X800XT is meant to be the successor of the
9800 XT, I apologize beforehand that I only had the 9800 Pro to compare
with it. The 9800 Pro is still only slightly slower than the XT
version, so you will at least have a general idea of how the new card
compares. More...
