Kicking off 2022 after a highly successful year for the company, Suunto today announced its sponsorship of True Grit for its 2022 Australian season and beyond.
Suunto’s partnership with the military inspired obstacle course race comes as a result of a shared passion for adventure and pushing Australians to their own personal limits. The first event this will be seen through is the 24 hour Enduro course in March, where Suunto will also supply the major prizes.
Supporting True Grit’s obstacle course race events across the country throughout the year, this new major sponsorship epitomises Suunto’s mission to improve the lives of its users, providing accurate data and detailed monitoring metrics to True Grit’s participants as they partake in the grueling challenge.
We are pretty big fans of Suunto, having reviewed the Suunto 9 Baro Titanium and Suunto Peak 9 last year.
“Always striving to enhance the lives of both elite athletes and weekend warriors, our partnership with True Grit felt like the natural next step for us. Combining our tough sports watches with one of the toughest obstacle courses on offer to Australians, we’re confident our partnership with True Grit will inspire more Australians to have their fittest year yet, while smashing their fitness goals no matter how big or small,” says Damian Commane, Head of Suunto ANZ.
“We’ve always admired Suunto, having tried and tested their watches out on the True Grit course. They can really take a beating and are the ideal companion for participants as they train for and tackle our challenging courses. We are delighted to welcome Suunto on board as a major sponsor as we gear up for another massive year” says Courtney Butler, Co-Owner and National Marketing Manager of True Grit.
Delivering a mix of physical and mental challenge, True Grit is the only Australian owned and operated military inspired obstacle course race created by Australian special forces. The grueling yet rewarding course is designed to offer racers of all ages and fitness levels a sense of achievement and accomplishment as they venture outside of their comfort zone to achieve greatness.
Suunto’s partnership with True Grit follows a successful year of product launches for the company, following the local launch of new iterations of its tried and tested sports watches with the expansion of the Titanium range, along with the local availability of its flagship Suunto 9 Peak. The year also saw a variety of ambitious partnerships for the brand, including its support of the 1000 Miles to Light ultra-race and NZ-based Super Rugby team the Hurricanes.
