The crew at Elegear sent us out one of their Folding Collapsible Heavy Duty Wagons to review, and because I seem to be carting around the most ‘stuff’ (Kids sports, beach, hobbies, DIY in the shed, etc!) I put my hand up.  The photo I’m going to lead with is from Elegear’s website, it made me laugh when I saw it – the cat and dog calmly sitting on the top of the load! I tried to get my Jack Russell to ride around in the cart – she was disgusted in my behaviour. 🤣

The Folding Collapsible Heavy Duty Wagon is an absolute game-changer for anyone needing a sturdy and versatile way to cart their gear around. Whether you’re loading it up with sports gear, packing it for a camping trip, or hauling a big shopping load, this wagon does it all without a hitch.

What really caught my eye straight away was the impressive 100kg weight capacity. It’s tough enough to handle pretty much anything you throw at it. The heavy-duty frame is rock solid, but what I love is how easily the wagon (Everyone’s calling it a wagon, I’m going to keep calling it a wagon!)w folds down when you’re done, saving heaps of space. It’s that perfect mix of strength and convenience — even when fully loaded, it’s smooth and easy to push. The wheels are solid PVC and swivel easily. I tried them on a road (with my 10yo on board) as well as down a sandy path to the beach and across grass, they’re large, so they roll easily and don’t get bogged down. Sometimes if you stop and start pushing the wagon back the way you came without turning around, the wheels take a second to swivel, but that’s been normal since the dawn of time… (Well, since I used to push my brother around in a pram, and that was a loooong time ago)

The wagon isn’t all straight and pretty right out of the box, its kinda scrunched up, but I can assure you – this doesn’t affect the performance! Also, yes, my grass needs mowing again.

Setting it up is a breeze. In just a few seconds, you’re good to go. Unpacking the wagon from the box it arrived in, you’re greeted with instructions to not cut the top of the box and damage your wagon – clever. You’re also greeted with a note that says pretty much “don’t worry, the other wheel is under the wagon!” – it was, easy to spot, but I guess they had a few worried calls to their (impressively!) 24/7 support line. It takes literally one minute to locate the wheel buttons (they’re red, you can see them below) and slot the front and rear wheel pairs in.

The Collapsible Heavy Duty Elegear Wagon has some handy stash pockets, a large one on the side, some cup holders (or smaller water bottles) on the front side and a zippered pocked on the inside, too, and that one is lined with what looks like a decently water proofed substrate, so I’m thinking things like keys and phones at the beach. When I was exploring the pockets, I found a spare couple of nuts that hold the liner in should you lose one or, heaven forbid two! While I do mention in this review that I’d likely hose the wagon out if it got dirty, the Elegear website does say you can unscrew and remove the liner, to place it in your washing machine. I’m sure there are washing instructions on the insert that was in the box, but in typical bloke fashion, I didn’t get that far! Sorry!

Obviously with a product like this that will likely be hauled around with a stack of gear in it, and maybe even raced by cheeky children (I’m not saying that happened over the weekend, but I’m not saying it didn’t happen!) it’s hard to say, in the space of a regular review, how durable the wagon will be in the long-run, but the paragraph from Elegear’s website was comforting – I’ll copy it below for you;

Pretty good! Again, I didn’t have to contact support, but that was directly from their website.

The collapsible design is a real winner for storage and transport. It folds down super small when compared with other wagons I’ve owned or used, like… very compact! See how it looks beside my kid’s bodyboard’s below. It fits nicely in the back of my car with everything else I schlep around, and hardly takes up any room in the shed. Plus, the fabric is tough and easy to clean, which is a big bonus after beach trips or shopping runs (And hopefully, eventually I’ll get my dog riding in there!) The 600D fabric is waterproof and looks to have some sort of DWR coating on it, so if things get messy (caveat, they haven’t yet, so I haven’t tried this, but have done so with other gear I own in the same fabric) …you just hose it off and let it dry unfolded before packing it away.

Speaking of packing it down, that was one of the more difficult things I encountered with my last wagon, this one is of similar functionality in that the ‘floor’ of the wagon when it’s in ‘go mode’ is the three piece wrap that compacts the wagon down into ‘stowed’ position, you grab the webbing loop in the base of the wagon and pull it skyward, the wagon folds in on itself. I gave it a bit of a bear-hug before laying it on the wrap-board (Elegear call it the ‘reinforced thickened plastic bottom board’) and using the webbing and hook-loop combo straps to cinch it up tight. You need to make sure the wheels are folded kind of out of each others way, but it’s a simple quick process – about two minutes tops.

All said and done, if you’re after something that’s both durable feeling and efficient in use, this wagon is a ripper. It makes heavy loads feel light, and with its high capacity and smooth operation, it’s a great option for carting anything and everything pretty much anywhere.
